In this project, I worked to help The Land of Make-Believe learn about grieving the loss of a loved one. In this case, the situation was relevant to everyone, the death of Fred Rogers. It was a death that almost made the world stop spinning. There was no real ending to the show that explained this death to the youth audience, so I made one myself.
For art, I created a new character to help The Land of Make-Believe learn about grief and to help them learn what helps and does not help the grieving process. I turned this character into a hand puppet.
For english, I made a script for a special episode of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood that takes place soon after his death. I stayed with the format of a real script while also keeping the essence of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
For social studies, I added breaks to my script to explain the context of the script psychologically. I got more specific on what is happening in the brain during grief, how it affects the characters and why they act the ways they do.
